If these chairs could talk…BFFs Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks had dinner and a movie together nightly on these chairs and TV trays in Carl’s Beverly Hills home. I was overwhelmed with emotion seeing this exhibit at The National Comedy Center in Jamestown, NY (also Lucille Ball’s hometown). It’s easy to imagine the widowers cracking each other up to the point of tears (or spit takes) and pounding their trays in hysteria. The American geniuses had a unique friendship and love affair ❤️❤️

Sir J.M. Barrie gifted this Peter Pan statue to Ke

Sir J.M. Barrie gifted this Peter Pan statue to Kensington Gardens on May 1st, 1912. Not only is it believed he skirted around the permission protocol all together, the Sir George Frampton bronze (commissioned a decade earlier) was installed covertly overnight - quite a feat back in the day - so it would appear magically in the morning, surprising and delighting the children of London:

“There is a surprise in store for the children who go to Kensington Gardens to feed the ducks in the Serpentine this morning. Down by the little bay on the south-western side of the tail of the Serpentine they will find a May-day gift by Mr. J.M. Barrie, a figure of Peter Pan blowing on his pipe on the stump of a tree…”(Announcement placed by Barrie in The Times 5/1/12)

Walt became bessoted with Peter Pan as a young boy in Marceline, Missouri. He was clear that’s why we have Peter Pan the movie and Peter Pan the attraction💚
